The development of the Torino-Aeritalia Airport is geared to the fulfillment of a project aimed to enhance and improve it by creating a polyfunctional platform for public utility services.
The main public utilities operating aircraft are:
- Heli-rescue (118)
- Fire Brigade
- Civil Defence
- Forestry Service
- Police
Such users each require a logistical base equiped to enable them to perform their activities. Currently, they all operate independently from separate bases.
A project has been drafted to improve and upgrade the airport area to achieve the targeted construction of a single base of operations which would bring together these public utilities operators at a common point.
The creation of this centre, would allow, among other things, a number of cost-effective synergies and significant cost-reductions due to the unification of services such as:
- Airport Fire Service
- Control Tower operators
- Airport Security services
- Fuel Supplies
- Maintenance workshops
- Spares warehouse
- Restaurant facilities
